Goggles & Caps

Wetsuit Warehouse offers the essentials for swim training and pool recreation: swimming goggles and swimming caps.

Swimming goggles are beneficial to any water lover as goggles protect your eyes from chlorine and other chemicals, debris, salt and the direct rays of the sun, making your experience in the water much more enjoyable.

Swimming caps are great if you are a regular swimmer because a swimming cap will keep your hair completely dry and away from the damaging chlorine and sun, Siwmming caps will also keep your hair out of your face while swimming and are very hygienic. For this last reason they are compulsory in certain European pools.

Things to look out for when buying goggles:

1.  Fit:
go for goggles with adjustable straps and nose bridges.
When you place the goggles over your eyes you should feel the suction with no gaps remaining between the skin and the goggles. The goggles should also not stand out from the bridge of your nose or pinch it too much. If the goggles don’t have an adjustable nose bridge, get a different model if the goggles don’t sit right.

2.  Lenses
:  Choose from polarised, mirrored, smoke, or colour-tinted lenses. The right lens for your goggles is depending on the light conditions.
- Polarised lens: Removes the reflective glare of open water in the most effective way possible, previously only seen in sunglasses. A true break-through in goggle lenses!
- Mirrored lens: Offers enhanced UV protection, reduces glare. Great for indoor and outdoor use.
- Smoke lens: Wear smoke coloured lenses in bright light conditions and if your eyes are sensitive to the sun. Great if you do backstrokes! Like black and grey coloured lenses, they are very dark and only suit outdoor use.
- Amber / yellow lens: Reduces glare and helps to increase contrast indoors. Amber is a very versatile colour, because amber lenses are for the outdoors, in bright natural light, and also for the lower artificial lights in indoor pools.
- Clear lens: Clear lenses are great for in low light pool conditions or on overcast days when you don’t want any light obstruction.
- Blue lens: Reduces glare. Blue lenses are darker, so less suited for indoor pools with low light, but good for environments where the light conditions change often from sunny to cloudy.
- Black/ grey lens: Protects your eyes effectively from bright sunlight and reduces glare. Suits outdoor use only.
