Hoods
Wetsuit hoods are very important in colder diving conditions, because your head is the part of your body where you lose the most of body heat through (up to 25%!). Hoods also protect you from harmful jellyfish and other stingers and from wind chill above the water. Many thicker wetsuits have attached hoods, or come with a seperate hood. However, if they haven't or if you have a semi-thick wetsuit, it pays off to invest in a hood when you go diving in winter.
Some hoods attach to your wetsuit with a clip, which prevents you losing it underwater. Other hoods have an inner fleece lining for extra warmth and some have a supple face seal to prevent skin irritation. There are even hoods that feature a preformed chin, for extra comfort, and hoods that have a bib to fit in the collar of your wetsuit.
