Shorties
Shorties are wetsuits with either short legs and long arms, long arms and short legs, or both short legs and arms. The point of wearing a shortie is keeping warm enough to be able to stay active in the water for a long time, without limiting your manoeuvrability while practising watersports, as is the case with thicker steamers. People who dive in tropical waters and surfers prefer thin shorties as this provides more freedom of movement. They are also very easy to get in an out.
We have selected a few good-quality and affordable shorties for you that you can’t go wrong with. Simply purchase the shortie online today!

What to consider when buying a shortie wetsuit
Usually shorties are only 1- 5mm thick. If the water gets too cold for those shorties, a full suit is probably the way to go anyway.
Take into account even in tropical waters you can get cold on a scuba dive that takes longer than 30 minutes and if you do, as steamer is a better choice than a shorty even though it is hot on land.
Which stitching to choose
The quality of stitches on seams of scuba diving wetsuit, in particular shorties, varies quite a bit. In ascending order of quality:
1. glued stitch (cheapest option);
2. over-locked stitch (better, but can be uncomfortable and let water seep in);
3. flatlock stitch (flat overlapping neoprene, which is comfortable & affordable) and;
4. the blind stitch (interlocked: no piercing, so no leaking, but expensive).
TIP: Taped seams help prevent water leaking through with any of these types of stitching, so look out for shorties with those!
